Beyond some crappy scans and lots of speculation, real info on the WiiWare return of
Mega Man has been scant. Well, GamesRadar just
opened the flood gates with its exclusive, proper reveal of
Mega Man 9, featuring a hands-on by Nintendo editor Brett Elston and an
interview with series creator (and
MM9 producer)
Keiji Inafune.
Elston reports that
Mega Man 9 is ... well, it's essentially an NES game – just as difficult as the original 8-bit installments of the famed series. "
Mega Man 9 is easily on par or above the hardest games in the series," Elston says, adding: "Hell, we played for two hours and only made it to three bosses, and even then only beat two." Read on after the break for more new info.

A little ninja scampered across our screen to bring news that
Metanet, developer of
N+, has three level packs for the Xbox Live Arcade version of the game ready and waiting. According to a post on Metanet's blog, the downloadable content has already been submitted to Microsoft for certification, although it has yet to receive a release date.
The post also reveals that one of the three packs will be free, and that, in total, the DLC-drop contains more than 750 new maps (roughly 300 of which are mutliplayer levels). The maps are reportedly "a lot better than the ones that came with
N+" due to the fact that Metanet has "had more time to learn what works." We know what
works: 750 more reasons to love the stylish and seductively simple ninja platformer.

Ninja Gaiden 2 will receive Mission Mode as DLC on July 25, according to a post on
NeoGAF. Mission Mode, if similar to the original iteration introduced in
Ninja Gaiden Black, drops Ryu into an arena setting and lets him go on a flippin' awesome ninja killin' spree. There is currently no price attached to the new Mission Mode DLC.
The possibility of a Mission Mode should come as good news to
NG II players who don't find
dressing up Ryu like a Ken doll a worthwhile activity. But, let's be honest, if it's anything like the original Mission Mode, shouldn't it have been shipped with the game or, and we're hoping this is the case, at least be free?

You can't put a price on nostalgia. But you can put a date on it -- at least if you happen to live in Japan. Our friends at Nintendo Wii Fanboy send word that according to
Famitsu,
Mega Man 9 will bound onto the Japanese WiiWare service sometime in September.
This gives us hope that the company's irresistibly retro take on the Blue Bomber will soon be released in other regions as well. However, Capcom remains mum regarding its agenda, leaving us to wait until E3 to find out more about its plans for the pixilated hero's
WiiWare-only digital launch outside of Japan. Now where did we put those rose-colored glasses?

Zap! Bang! Pow! Those are the names we've given to three new screens of
Sucker Punch's open-world superhero/villain game that have appeared on the
official PlayStation blog. We think they're only fitting since each shot depicts Dylan, the good/bad guy from
inFAMOUS, using his electric bolts to tear the town a new one.
The game continues to look great, albeit very ...
brown. Maybe these screens are just from the game's Brown District. (Okay, so we don't actually
know that it has such a district, or even districts
at all, but please play along?)
Along with the screens, Sony mentions that it will have "a bunch of news" about inFAMOUS at E3. We hope the "news" is that the game is actually playable at the show (and less brown).

Boy, they're not kidding when they urge you to keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times, especially not when said vehicle happens to be the Ishimura,
Dead Space's monster-infested milieu. Though some might view this trip down the carpal lane as a disturbing warning of what's to come (and bite your face off) in EA's outer space horror, we urge you to wrist assured and see this
strategically severed hand beckoning you closer, luring you into a gripping and atmospheric adventure.

Diablo 3 looks to be many things, but if early footage is to be believed, dark is not one of them. It's an observation that's incurred the ire of
thousands of armchair heroes expecting to return to the gritty countryside seen in previous games instead of the more colorful landscapes shown during the game's recent unveiling.
Speaking to
MTV Multiplayer, lead producer Keith Lee explained the game's artistic direction as emphasizing contrast, while comparing the game's visual style to
Lord of the Rings. To quote Lee, "color is your friend." We guess that's true ... except if you happen to be colorblind (hey, the story might be good too!). Even so -- judging by the players who've begun to gather pitchforks in hand en masse outside the Blizzard gates -- if we were Lee, we'd be sneaking out through the back.

Above: Yakuza 2
Get ready to hit the seedier side of Tokyo and slug it out
in HD –
Yakuza 3 is coming. The "real"
Yakuza 3. As first reported on
2chan, the latest issue of Famitsu quotes
Yakuza series director
Toshihiro Nagoshi as stating that the game is a direct sequel to
Yakuza 2, and is in development exclusively for PS3.
Nagoshi states in the Famistu article that
Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! – which is set in Edo-era Japan – is actually considered a spin-off from the "main"
Ryu ga Gotoku series (
Yakuza here in the West). No release date has been announced for the series' third (well, technically fourth) installment, but we'll keep you posted.

James Bond, always too busy to stop and smell the flowers.
James Bond returns to movie theaters this fall in
Quantum of Solace, and this time he'll be back in video game format as well. Treyarch has been developing a
Quantum of Solace game in conjunction with the new flick, enjoying carte blanche from the producers to photograph and use everything from the movie in the game, including blonde Bond Daniel Craig. You can count on his stoic visage making an appearance, not to mention his recognizable voice. Find out what we learned from this first peek at the game, freshly declassified.

Our friends at Big Download
took both the PC and Xbox 360 versions of
Alone in the Dark for a spin in an updated version of
Big Versus. In their words, "Shying away from our original concept of which is better than the other, Big Versus has transformed to a comparison piece regarding our overall experiences." So which version left them with a more positive half-smile? Check it out
here.

While the ballyhoo around Blizzard's announcement of
Diablo 3 kept us all sleep deprived and glued to our screens this last weekend, some were left not as impressed as others. And by some, we mean
Fallout 3 production director Ashley Cheng, who feels the series' third trip to the well is too 'conservative.'
"I must say,"
wrote Cheng on his blog, "I am disappointed that Blizzard has stayed on the conservative side in terms of design with their updates to
Diablo and
Starcraft." However, he tempered his displeasure with a measure of excitement, writing that he "loved" the game's destructible environments and that the vaunted action RPG looks "pretty amazing." Even so, take heed, dear Blizzard. Try not to be so restrained when you finally get around to revisiting
Starcraft: Ghost; we think casting
Nova in a
post-apocalyptic wasteland is a guaranteed way to win our hearts.

With
initial previews of Silicon Knights'
Too Human painting the long-in-development action RPG as a few miles short of Valhalla,
IGN has stepped up, offering the developer a handful of advice concerning items that site would like to see corrected before the game ships in August.
According to IGN, among the issues needing a little extra lovin' are the game's lock-happy camera, random loot drops, and "sluggish" framerate, as well as a general lack of combat hand-holding and backstory -- each of which the site is only too happy to offer up a helpful tip or two to correct. Of course, with
Dyack and Co. set to take their seemingly flawed action romp on the road next month, we doubt that a few choice words from an outside source will help right a decade of stumbling.
